Wheat is a crop that is a good rotational crop for our cotton. However, the wheat we grow is Organic Hard Red Winter Wheat, which means it is grown during the winter months of the year. Knowing our context: our winter months are the driest part of our year. So, most of our wheat is grown using center pivot irrigation. Our Organic Wheat is unique as we are one of the only certified organic regenerative wheat growers in the United States. We grow our wheat in a pasture that we graze during the summer months.
ABOUT REGENIFIED WHEAT
This method is called “Pasture Cropping”. The idea is the grass goes dormant during the winter months, so we plant hard red wheat into the grass and grow it under center pivot irrigation. After we harvest the wheat in the first part of the summer, we graze the grass and wheat stubble with our cattle to help regenerate our land and grow a nutrient dense wheat berry for our customers.
